Digital Collections in the Friedheim Library

About this collection

In 1857, the newly formed board of trustees of the Peabody Institute announced an architectural competition for the design of the Institute's first buildings, to be constructed on Mount Vernon Place in Baltimore. This collection gathers competition submissions, drawings by winning architects Lind & Murdoch for the first building, and Lind drawings for the addition of the large library building (now the George Peabody Library) completed in 1878.
