About this collection

The Leon Fleisher Collection contains concert and masterclass programs, photographs, press, papers, video, and correspondence of the great pianist, conductor, and teacher.

Leon Fleisher, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Chair in Piano, has been teaching at the Peabody Conservatory since 1959. In 2012, he donated his concert and masterclass programs, press material, correspondence, itineraries, photographs, clippings, personal papers, scrapbooks, and memorabilia to the Peabody Archives. Nearly 1,000 of these items are available through the Fleisher digital collection.

The launch of the Leon Fleisher Studio Video Project was made possible through the generosity of Denis & Bette O’Sullivan and Shrub & Peaches Kempner, with additional support provided by Ben Lee. They wished to help Peabody preserve the teaching tradition of this great master. Additional online resources about Fleisher created by the Friedheim Library are available here.
